From Allée, Borrowed Landscape and Coastal Garden to Minimalism, New Perennial Planting, Pool, Vista and Xeriscape Garden, entries by garden expert and historian Toby Musgrave - author of the Phaidon bestseller The Gardener's Garden - form a unique, illustrated 'glossary " for gardeners, presenting more than 400 public and private, well-known and lesser-known gardens.
Examples include designs such as the Baroque Gardens of Versailles and rarely published tropical courtyards by contemporary designers, as well as artistic creations such as Frida Kahlo's courtyard in Mexico and Derek Jarman's coastal garden in Dungeness, England. In addition to the work of private garden owners and designers, the book also features the work of up-and-coming and well-known designers, including Andrea Cochran, Emily Erlam, Raymond Jungles, Dan Pearson and Piet Oudolf.
